Linen
FAQs
What features and fabrics should
I look for?
Table linens are available in a different varieties of fabric. The more
convenient and widely used are linens made from cotton or a
cotton/polyester blend. This blend provides good quality, durable linens
and they can withstand repeated washings. Moreover, they also require
little ironing. Cotton linens create a soft drape and sophisticated and
a decorative look but require a little extra care. Polyester table and
kitchen linens are strong and resilient, need no ironing and are highly
resistant to stains.
What size tablecloth do I need?
The size of the table cloth depends on the size of the table. Proper
tablecloth drop should be 6"-12" for each side of your table.
After measuring your dining table, add either 12" (for a 6"
drop) or 24" (for a 12" drop) to both your length and width
measurements.
What other factors should I consider while choosing table linens?
When choosing table linens keep your room decor and dinnerware in mind.
You should coordinate your place settings and linens with the design of
the room. You can complement your tablecloth by purchasing matching
placemats, runners and napkins. The placemats or table mats can be used
without the tablecloth for casual dining. For a decorative accent, a
table runner adds a more formal look. Make sure your tablecloth or table
cover stays in place by using it in conjunction with a table pad, which
will also protect your table from moderate heat.
How do I take care of my table and kitchen linens?
Always read the directions given on any table linen, be it the
tablecloth, napkin or placemat before cleaning or treating any stains.
Treat stains as quickly as possible and launder or dry clean
immediately.
